On the other hand, self-actualizing tendency is considered to encompass such characteristics like motivation, needs or drives; as such, each individual has a responsibility to realize his or her potential. Rogers in his development of personality theory, does not recognize a deterministic nature associated with behaviorism or psychoanalysis, but maintains a focus on behavior being influenced by the conditions that individuals find themselves. However, individuals can become self-destructive in the event that they develop a low self-concept and as such, it is important for individuals to develop in a state of congruence. This means that self-actualization is influenced by an individual’s ideal self-being in congruent with an individual’s self-image (actual behavior). As noted by Rogers, one is self-actualized when he or she becomes a fully functioning person and in most cases, the major determinant of self-actualization among individuals, is their childhoo d experience (Moon, 2007). Law of Obligation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words

Law of Obligation - Essay Example if the offer is accepted but if the other party alters the term of his acceptance, it becomes a counter-offer and has the effect of effacing the original offer. The second party then becomes the offeror and the first party the acceptor. If the counter-offer is accepted, then the agreement is concluded. 2 The principle in English law is that â€Å"an acceptance which is not the mirror image of an offer does not give rise to a contract – it is regarded as a counter-offer, not an acceptance† 3 This principle was first enunciated and laid down by the courts in the case of Hyde v. Wench.4 In the aforesaid case, a party offered to sell a piece of land he owns for  £1,200 to another but was declined by the latter. He made another offer, lowering it to  £1,000 to which the other party responded by offering to pay the same for  £950. The first party asked for time to reconsider and several days after wrote a letter to the first party declaring that he would make a definite answer on a fixed future. A day after the fixed date, the first party refused, in a letter, the offer of the second party. The second party wrote back stating that he is accepting the earlier offer in which the selling price is at  £1000. The Court, after appraisal of the facts of the case said that the effect of a counter-proposal is an implied rejection of the offer to which it is responding to: Applying the above principle to the case at hand, the first advertisement becomes the first offer but since Justine wanted to lower the price at  £2,250 from the original price of  £3,000, then the original offer was vacated and the new offer is the one proffered by Justine. As a Mass Communication Student Essay Example for Free

As a Mass Communication Student Essay Mass Communication is a very interesting course. Like what John Phelan said, most of the students want to be in this field because the skills and talents they have fit to this course. It’s more fun and adventurous. You’ll encounter lots of people, ordinary, celebrities, politics. Go to different places. Enjoy foods and new things. And learn cultures of others. But I still can’t figure out what’s gotten into my mind in choosing Mass Communication. I even don’t want to be a public figure. As we all know, public figures doesn’t have privacy anymore. And sometimes they’re into trouble because part of their job is to criticize and give opinion on a certain issue. But that’s the consequence. Even if I work behind the camera, still my name will appear as part of the show or whatever it is that I’m into. Sometimes, to make others realize that what they do is not good anymore we must take actions for them to behave in the way we want and other people wants. And as Media personnel, being responsible is what we must also possess because the audience that we have has no age limit. Kids and youth can see us. We can be part of their growing process and we don’t want to be a bad influence to them. Instead, we want them to learn good things from us. Also for the old ones especially that they depend on us for the service of giving them the right information’s that they want to hear or to see. In return, we can feel the fulfilment that we are an effective Media Personnel. They say that in this field, you can have lots of money. Yes, if you are disciplined, hardworking and determined. But money is not important. What’s important for me now is to gain experience and to learn new things to prepare myself for the future. Those things that Phelan and Schramm said inspired and taught me a lesson not only about the things happening in Media but also about the life that later on we Mass Communication students will have.
